What diVa® treats

diVa®

Changes in vaginal health often caused by childbirth and menopause: dryness, thinning, laxity, discomfort, and stress urinary incontinence.

Do you deal with:

Who diVa® is for. Vaginal childbirth and menopause are the two most common reasons women seek diVa®. Hysterectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, breastfeeding, and other hormonal changes can also affect vaginal health. Because diVa® is non-hormonal, it is also an option for women who have had breast cancer or cannot take estrogen.

How it works

Two lasers in a single, short treatment.

diVa® uses Hybrid Fractional Laser (HFL) technology to deliver two laser therapies at once. The first gently resurfaces the top layer of the vaginal wall, replacing it with new, healthy tissue. The second heats the deeper layer where collagen lives, encouraging the body to build new collagen, blood vessels, and supportive tissue for a firmer lining with improved sensation.

A single-use quartz dilator and automated handpiece treat the full length of the vaginal canal evenly, so each treatment is consistent and can be customized to your concerns. For women also concerned about the outer tissue, diVa Tyte® uses infrared energy to firm the vulva as a non-surgical alternative to labiaplasty.

Quick

Each laser treatment takes only 3 to 5 minutes, in the comfort of our office.

Comfortable

Most women feel warmth or slight pressure, with little pain. A topical numbing cream is used for comfort.

No downtime

Return to your daily routine right away, including driving, sports, and lifting. Pelvic rest for 48 hours.

Non-hormonal

No estrogen or other hormones, so it’s an option for women who can’t or don’t want to use hormone therapy.

Customizable

Hybrid Fractional Laser technology lets your provider tailor each treatment to your concerns and goals.

Patient

Regarding pelvic issues and female sexual function as we age, my OB-GYN couldn't help me. Dr McWhorter's diVa laser therapy has fully restored my pelvic health and functioning. Ladies, you know what I am talking about. Do yourself a big favor, and don't accept losing your sexual functioning after menopause. It doesn't have to be that way!

Common questions

Women who have gone through vaginal childbirth or are experiencing symptoms of menopause are the most common candidates. diVa® can also help women whose vaginal health has changed after a hysterectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, or breastfeeding. Because it is non-hormonal, it is an option for women who have had breast cancer or who cannot take estrogen. The procedure is typically done in those 25 and older.

All providers providing this therapy have received training and certification to perform diVa® Laser Vaginal Therapy from Sciton instructors, and members of our team have taken part in training so they can answer your questions.

Most women experience no pain and little discomfort. Some feel warmth or slight pressure against the vaginal wall, and occasionally sensitivity near the vaginal opening. We apply a topical numbing cream for your comfort. If you are more sensitive to pain, you’re welcome to take turmeric or Tylenol a couple of hours beforehand.

No. We don’t use anesthesia, only topical numbing cream. You’ll be alert and able to drive yourself home.

Your provider will discuss your concerns and review your health history to confirm diVa® is right for you. This is the time to point out sensitive areas, such as episiotomy scars or previous surgeries. Numbing cream is applied, then the laser treatment itself takes 3 to 5 minutes. Plan on about an hour in the office in total; add-on procedures can extend that by 30 to 45 minutes.

Many women notice a change right away, with full results within about 3 months. A typical plan consists of 3 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart, with each treatment building on the last, followed by a single maintenance treatment every 12 months, if desired.

Most women experience only mild soreness, spotting, or discharge that resolves within a day or two. To protect the newly resurfaced tissue, avoid sexual intercourse for at least 48 hours. diVa® has been performed thousands of times by qualified providers with no reports of serious complications.

No. This procedure is considered cosmetic and is not covered by insurance. Your consultation is included with your treatment, and if your provider determines diVa® isn’t right for you, we’ll tell you.

diVa® requires a provider overseeing your care, so it’s offered as part of our provider-guided membership care. The first step is a conversation and a first appointment. There’s no obligation to join, and you’ll know what your plan includes and costs before you decide.
